Capelin fishery in the North East Atlantic

Capelin fishery in the North East Atlantic

Greenlandic vessels are fishing for capelin in large parts of the North East Atlantic incl. East Greenland according to international agreements with Iceland and Norway.

In 2022 Sustainable Fisheries Greenland (SFG) and Iceland Sustainable Fisheries (ISF) made an agreement regarding sharing of the Icelandic MSC-certificate. This means that Greenlandic catches of capelin have now reached MSC-status.
